Description4 Parts In 1 Vol. Oblong Sm. 8-vo.(8)- 446-(2) PP. 4 Titles, a frontispice and 19 full page delicately engraved plates, by Pieter Serwouters. Full orig. Vellum. A well printed and rare Dutch songbook. The poetry is of a liberal nature, van Heemskerk (1597-1656) gave us, in this hard to find little volume, youth poetry, his adaptation of Ovidius Ars Amandi, with 12 fine plates. The 2-Nd. part new for this 2-nd. edition, is Ovid's Remedia Armoris has 6 plates. The -3rd. part is a collection of love songs that were inspired by (a.o.)the 'Canzonieri' of Bembo and Ronsard's 'Amours'. The 4-Th. part, is a collection of various poems, such as (e.g.) Love Songs to the Nymphs of Leiden, were Heemskerk studied. At the end the printers mark of Paulus Aerts van Ravesteijn, with text partly in his fine civilité type. who was responsible for the fine printing of this 'Rarissima' New endpapers, [pp.120-139) with loss of [part of] pagination, due to worming, title page repaired Occasionally stained, soiled, some upper corners missing, without loss of text, not affecting plates.
