Original full vellum,( a bit warped, ties lacking) with central ornament and fleurons at corners. At upper cover the owner's initials ("D V C R") At lower cover: Anno 1716 . Some quires a bit loosening, some very light , marginal water stains, and (worse) part of the text beneath engraving of pp.235 torn out... All prints in a most desirable well printed early state. See: Landwehr: Dutch Emblem Book, # 29 pp.8 Not found in A.G.C. de Vries, De Nederlandsche Emblemata. Apart for the mentioned defects, still a desirable copy. |
