conditionA fine, well printed, uncoloured state of the 1765 edition. Consisting of 9 maps. Generous margins. Bound as an atlas , all maps with centrefold. Some marginal soiling & surface dirt, mainly at blank verso. Clumsy 1/2 leather modern binding, spine with raised bands, plain , sprinkled boards.

descriptionIn 1648 the Dyke Reeves of the Schieland Polder, decided they needed a new map had to be made, since the 1611 map was outdated, as well as out of print, and a reprint was out of the question because of the number of mistakes in that map by Balthasr Florisz.... From 1649 to 1654 Jan Jansz. Stampioen surveyed the Schieland polder again, Joh. Vingbooms surveyor and engraver in Amsterdam, was asked to engrave the map.It took him 6 years. The drawing, engraving and printing costed 3350 guilders, a fortune in those days. There were reprints made in the years; 1694, 1710, 1718, and, as is our copy; 1765. Finely engraved Coats of Arms at top, below the title in a large ribbon of the Dyke Reeves,
