descriptionHere is one of the most detailed maps of (a part of) The Low Countries, "Delfland", with the important cities of : The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam Etc. Many years of hard-labour produced this superb map, with a total cost of (then!!!!) 20, 000 Guilders, an astonishing amount of money. Here, for the 1St. time, the scale was given in a modern way, i.e. a decimal scale of 1:10.000. All topographical details up to perfection. 25 double page maps, with elaborate etchings of the coats of arms, of Dyke Reeves, Burgomasters etc. and the lower part with nice, pastoral scenery. See, for the decoration of this fine map: J.F.Heijbroek; "Kunst In Kaart", PP. 15-17. The map was printed in 1713 in an edition of 6- to 800 copies only! A must for the serious collector. See, at length; Donkersloot de Vrij; 806, Fockema-Andreae; PP. 72-73.
