| Description | Unpaginated, entirely printed in red and black, title page with woodcut of Atlas carrying an Armillian Sphere, with the usual features of an Almanach, such as moonphases, post routes, opening hours of town-gates, tide figures and times, ferry crossings, markets and fairs, money changing tables, Fine Black Shagreen, A.E.G. with 4 luxury silver ornaments/ catchplates [hallmarks not yet indentified] , a fine, silver central ornament with the Coat of Arms of Holland [A rampant, sword carrying lion, in a crowned escutcheon] on both panels. The [contemporary] pencil holds the Almanach closed by means of 4 rings attached to the silver ornaments. Apart for a small piece missing of the top-spine end and a small 3,5 cm. crack at the upper hinge a very good copy of a rare, luxurously bound, XVII-Th. Century Dutch Almanach, published by the heirs of the finest Dutch bookbinder that ever existed. |
