DescriptionVI-478 pp.With extensive [19pp.] literature listing. Mit Beitragen Von Dr. Otto Rank. Fine Original 1/2 Cloth , slightly bumped. Here the 7-Th. Edition of this classic on the interpretation of dreams. the First Edition was actually published on November 4, 1899 in an edition of 600 copies only. The book sold that slowly that the publisher did not risk a second edition until 1909. None the less, this work (along with perhaps Das Kapital and The Origin of the Species) would prove to be one of the most influential book on the 20th Century, the Century of Psychology. "This is unquestionably Freud's greatest single work. It contains all the basic components of psychoanalytic theory and practice: the erotic nature of dreams, the 'Oedipus complex', the libido, and the rest; all related to the background of the 'unconscious', later to be called the 'sub-conscious'." (PMM, p. 234). This book is THE true fundamental work of the modern psychological movement. In addition, Freud's ideas have had an incalculable influence on many other aspects modern thought and his terminology has entered our everyday language. "By working to uncover the various motivations and desires behind conscious mental functioning, Freud changed the way people perceived not only themselves, but also the world around them." (NYPL Books of the Century 88). Printing and the Mind of Man, 389. Apart for some bumping of extremities, and a slightly faded spine, a very good copy!
